Paul D. Froehlich

Paul D. Froehlich is a Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives representing the 56th district, where he has served since 2003. Froelich also serves as Schaumburg Township Republican Committeeman which he has served as since 1998.

Froelich was previously elected to the District 54 Board of Education in 1989 , Schaumburg Township School Trustee in 1997, and Township Assessor 2001. Froelich was appointed to the Illinois House in 2003 and was elected in 2004, and 2006.

Froelich was the chief sponsor of bills that became law to permit photo-radar speed enforcement in highway construction zones only when workers are present and to prohibit minors under 18 from using the cell phone while driving. He was also instrumental in limiting to two per year the number of court supervisions for moving violations that motorists may receive. Among his other bills that have become law are these:

  • Provide temporary exemption from jury duty to nursing mothers.
  • Repeal two mandates on county clerk's offices by ending the requirement that they record the identity of anyone examining a politician's statement of economic interest and notify the politician.
  • Require units of local government who have a web site to post certain basic information on it such as meeting dates, minutes, and the like.

A Schaumburg resident, Froehlich is married and has three children.
