Paul Brayson was born in Newcastle upon Tyne on 16 September 1977, signing for his home town team of Newcastle United in the summer of 1995, and the then manager, Kevin Keegan.

In the 2005/2006 football season, he made history by becoming the first player ever to win two player of the rounds in The FA Cup.

Paul has played for a number of teams in his career, starting of at Newcastle United before moving to Swansea City on loan. He signed permanently for Reading when leaving Newcastle, then moving on to Cardiff City and Cheltenham Town before dropping out of the Football League, moving to Northwich Victoria, then to Gateshead on loan, and then back to Northwich during the 2005-06 season, participating in a fine FA Cup run with the Vics before being knocked out by Premiership club Sunderland. During that FA Cup run Brayson won the FA Player of the Round twice, becoming the first player to do so. He is also regarded as a fans favorite with the Northwich supporters.
