Patrick Owomoyela (born November 5, 1979 in Hamburg) is a football (soccer) player in Germany. He has a German white mother and a Nigerian father.
He currently is a defender for SV Werder Bremen and is a member of the German national team. Owomoyela plays a rather offensive game for a defender, ranging all over the field and often sending dangerous crosses or leading passes to Werder's strikers. However, he is also strong on the defensive side of the ball.
In addition to his football skills, Owomoyela is also a very good basketball player, having played in the German regional league before switching to football full time. He also has provided commentary for German-language telecasts of NBA games.
