Patrick Agyemang (born 29 September 1980 in Walthamstow, England) is a professional football player who has been capped by Ghana. He currently plays for Preston North End in the Football League Championship.
Patrick's former clubs include Gillingham, Brentford and Wimbledon.
[edit] Club career
Patrick ended a long wait for Preston North End fans when he finally signed for the club in November 2004. An exciting striker he is keen to prove that he is a more than capable candidate to fill the striking roles vacated by David Healy and Ricardo Fuller earlier in the campaign.
Agyemang joined Preston North End in a deal in the region of £300,000 from Gillingham after spending less than a year at Priestfield.
The pacy and powerful forward made his name at Wimbledon, where he came through the ranks and went on to make 116 appearances and score 22 goals.
He went on to make 31 appearances in his first season, chipping in with four goals but finished the campaign behind Cresswell and Nugent in the pecking order.
This season the former Wimbledon striker has made 49 appearances, although 25 came from the substitutes bench but he did finish the season as second leading scorer with 6.
His good form earned him a recall to the Ghana squad, three years after his last and only other appearance, he went on to pick up three caps for his country but was left out of the final 23 man squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
Patrick spent much of his first seasons at Deepdale making appearances from the bench - however injuries to key players saw him start games early in the 2006/07 season , scoring a memorable bicycle kick goal winner against West Bromwich Albion.kwabena adjei rules
[edit] International career
Patrick made his International debut for Ghana[1] against Nigeria on 30 May 2003 in the 4-Nation LG Cup, hosted by Nigeria. He scored for Ghana, just 3 minutes into his debut. Ghana lost the game 3-1. Recently, he played for Ghana in the Pre-2006 World Cup International Friendly against Mexico on 1 March 2006 Read: Agyemang call-up delight. He however lost out on a place in the final 2006 FIFA World Cup Ghana team. [2]
