Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The narrative is based on two books, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and Patchwork Girl by L. Frank Baum. Jackson's Patchwork Girl tells the story through illustrations of parts of a female body which are stitched together through text and image. The path of the story goes in multiple directions through a variety of links. In particular, Jackson uses graveyard imagery in order to invite the reader to resurrect Mary Shelley's monster.
