Pat Critchley is a well known sportsman from County Laois, Ireland
Success is nothing new to Pat Critchley, be it as a player or as a coach. Equally adept at both, this success has not been restricted to one sport, but rather three, hurling, football and basketball. In fact, Pat has played at National League level in all three.
A member of Portlaoise GAA club, Pat won no fewer that 14 Laois senior county championships - seven each in hurling and football and one Limerick senior county football championship. Add to that three Leinster and one All-Ireland club football championships while he was awarded a hurling All-Star award in 1985.
Pat is a Physical Education teacher at Presentation College Portlaoise and since taking over the basketball reins at the school in 1985 he has coached teams to 11 All-Ireland finals, winning five. He has also led the school to an All-Ireland football title.
