Pataphysicians or pataphysicists are individuals who adhere to the ideas of pataphysics. 'Pataphysics is the science of imaginary solutions' Inveted by Alfred Jarry. The most comprehnsive description of it is given in Jarrys novel The Exploits and Opinions of Dr Faustroll, Pataphysician (translation by Roger Shattuck and Simon Watson Taylor, 1965 )First Published in French in 1911 (Gestes et opinions du docteur Faustroll, pataphysician) . Many expressions of Pataphysics are discernable through the key protagonist of Jarrys life Pere Ubu, emeritus king of Poland and of Aragon, Dr of Pataphysics, etc, etc. and in this sense both Faustroll and Ubu are also pataphysicians.
