[edit] Template:Heavy metal

Hi Pasajero,

There is currently a discussion going on about the presentation of heavy metal genres on Wikipedia. The template you recently edited is currently being "stripped down" to "core genres" as part of the wider project. That's why your edit was reverted, not because Speed metal is not a notable part of the metal scene. Please join us at Wikipedia:WikiProject Metal and get involved, look forward to seeing you there. [edit] Static-X, metal or rock?

I REALLY do not want to have a silly hissy-fit edit war with you about this, ok? Most people would argue that Static-X is metal, and therefore should be classed as such. Just give me your reasons so we can settle this without having to get petty? Hole in the wall 19:39, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Wow, thanks for your speedy response in this issue. I'll put both genres in, and if you even thinkc of reverting them or getting rid of the metal, I'm going to hurt you. Hole in the wall 21:06, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Final Fantasy XIV

[edit] Speed Metal

Hello.

I wondered if Stratovarius should be mentioned in the list, seriously, they're more Power Metal than Speed even though they have some "fast" songs.

Cheers with the taste. \m/

Darksteel 11:00, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks. You agree with Venom, though? i added them - i tought of the album "Black metal" to be Speed Metal, but not sure. It sure isn't Black though.

Darksteel 19:26, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

- Hmm, well, it's true that alot of so-called "Black Metal" bands have a very generic sound, but i surely think that doesn't count for all. I am mainly referring to bands like Dimmu Borgir who nowadays sound like countless other bands. Dimmu Borgir's earlier sound, however, might even be worth named Black Metal (i'm not a purist - it just annoys me greatly when bands and people start labelling bands for something they aren't. I don't mean Black Metal is the "king" of all genres, but it is still a careful thing to go on with). I do think that bands like Emperor, Mayhem, Burzum (early aswell), Bathory (earlier - the later sound i tought rather weird), Immortal and many other bands have a real Black Metal sound. That's my opinion on it, though. Darksteel 10:14, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cowboys from Hell

Not that it makes any difference, but why did you change groove metal to post-thrash in the template? Nufy8 00:53, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

All right, that sounds reasonable. Nufy8 02:02, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Leyasu

Yeah, I've been trying not to jump the gun with those reverts, but most of them are edits that get made again after being reverted, so it does point to it being Leyasu. As for a hotlist, hmmm not sure. Might just have to keep reporting any vandalism from the IPs, though there are a few anti-vandal/easy edit tools, like Vandalbot and AWB. Try looking them up and activating them, if they'll help. Dace59 12:31, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Nu metal & death metal

RE: [1] The wording of the sentence could mean that those two bands would be considered death metal. Even if looked at another way, nu-metal has no commonalities with death metal, and even if this is referenced in a "book", it's nothing more than the author's opinion, not fact. Notice how there is no further explanation. ("Sonic similarity" - huh?) I made attempts to discuss this with User:WesleyDodds (who was the first inclusionist for this segment) several months ago and he never responded. Perhaps you could be so kind to explain how the nu-metal genre has any similarity with death metal? --Danteferno 00:45, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Either way, the sentence is misleading. If no elaboration or further source could be made showing the so called "sonic similarities" nu-metal has with death metal, this segment needs to be removed. --Danteferno 14:08, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reply to the message you sent me

I only removed them from that list because while they do have a groovish sound on their last two albums (I have all of them except for their first one but I have heard some songs off it), I wouldn't call them a key artist since they didn't influence or assist in groove metal's formation as much as Pantera, Machine Head, and Sepultura did. I'd honestly call Meshuggah thrash metal more since they have more riff oriented song structures, way less clean vocals (Though that isn't to say not all thrash metal singers sing clean but a lot of them do stick to harsh vocals.) and hardly any "flowing" riffs except on Nothing and Catch-33. I think key artists should only be listed if they helped formulate it or are very prominent though Meshuggah I would say are more known than they were years ago. What do you think? [edit] Rock music Wikiproject invitation

Hello WikiProject Metal member.
WikiProject Metal music is important in expanding encyclopedic coverage of the metal. It brings attention to the lesser-known bands, and significantly improves the quality of the famous ones. Five Featured articles and two formers is proof of that.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently resurrected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and embrace the links between metal and rock music in general.
Rock on.

[edit] License tagging for Image:Lito y Polaco-Fuera de Serie.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Lito y Polaco-Fuera de Serie.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:09, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
