[edit] Mentoring page
This page is currently in use as a page for mentoring new editors. If any edits on this page or the talk page seem out of place, please disregard. Thanks.
[edit] Task 1
One of the first things to learn about is what wikipedia is and is not for. Before we do anything else, I would like for you to read What Wikipedia is not. When you have read it, return to this page, go to the talk page, and share with me your thoughts about the document.
[edit] Task 2
The next thing is to have an informative and attractive userpage. There are really any number of ways to do this. There are guidelines on what a userpage is, and what may be put on it. The best way to get a userpage design is to find another user that has one you like. Think about what you would like your userpage to look like (remember, simple is better -- and easier). Once you find someone that has a userpage you like, let me know on the talk page for this page, and we will work on how to make yours look similar.
- To put your userboxes in a table:
- Place this: {| style="margin: 1em auto 1em auto" at the top of your list of userboxes.
- Place a divider (shift+\ = |) at the next line
- put however many userboxes you want next to the divider (I wouldn't do more than three)
- to start a new line, place a divider and a dash (like this |-) on the next line, with no userboxes
- Down one more and repeat
- When you come to the end of your userboxes, close with a bracket }
If you want to see, go to my userpage, press "edit this page" and scroll down to my userboxes (I have them 2 across). Don't save the page (my userpage), just press "Back" when you are done looking at it.
