Passport to Paris is a 1999 direct-to-video movie starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
During their school's Spring break, twin sisters Melanie and Allyson Porter, at first reluctantly, travel to Paris to visit their Grandpa Edward, the US Ambassador to France, and to have fun during their holidays. Having the expectation of a good and wonderful time with their grandpa, they instead get Grandpa Edward's assistant, Jeremy Bluff, to spend time with them. While there, they meet and become friends with Brigitte, a beautiful French fashion model (with whom they later set Jeremy up for a date), and fall for two charming French boys named Jean and Michel. The girls find various ways of ditching Jeremy to spend time and cruise around the city on mopeds with the boys – all of which Jeremy considers to be irresponsible and slightly unacceptable. Absorbing all the sights and sounds of Paris, Melanie and Allyson end up getting arrested by the police, along with Jean and Michel, for trespassing. To their dismay, the girls are forbidden by Grandpa Edward to see the boys again and so they challenge the French Foreign Minister, Mssr. De Beauvoir, at a banquet, and manage to convince him to accept an important proposal by their grandpa, which concerns clean drinking water for the capital. This puts Melanie and Allyson back in Grandpa Edward's good books, and he allows them to once again see Jean and Michel – even allowing all four of the youngsters go to a dance together. When the time comes for the girls to return home, Grandpa Edward decides to take a much-needed break from his ambassadorial duties and accompany them; the intention being to spend time with his family, who he hasn't seen for a long time, back in the United States. When first hearing from their parents that they would be going to Paris, Melanie and Allyson were quite upset and not too keen on the idea at first, but ultimately ended up coming out of the trip more cultured and experienced.
