Passport Card

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As proposed by the US State Department, the Passport Card (or PASS Card, as it is sometimes known) would be a credit card or drivers license document which would provide all information needed for an American citizen to re-enter the United States from Canada via land or sea crossing. The card, as is currently proposed, would not be for use for an air entry, would not be available to Canadians, and with the cost of the card and the processing fee, would be approximately half the cost of a US Passport.

The Card is opposed by many groups, including the BESTT Coalition [1], which believe that the US State Department and the US Department of Homeland Security should work with US State Governments and Canadian Provincial and Territorial Governments to make drivers' licenses the acceptable form of ID for crossing the US/Canadian border.
