Passeiertal

The Passeiertal (Italian: Val Passiria, German: Passeiertal) is a mountain valley in the northern part of South Tyrol, Italy. It is the valley of the river Passer (Italian: Passirio), a left tributary of the Adige (German: Etsch). It is located north of Merano, which is located at the confluence of Passer and Adige. The Timmelsjoch mountain pass connects the Passeiertal with Sölden, in the Ötztal in Austria.

The following municipalities are located in the Passeiertal: Kuens, Moos in Passeier, Riffian, St. Leonhard in Passeier, and St. Martin in Passeier. The population of the Passeiertal is predominantly German-speaking (more than 97% according to 2001 census).
