[edit] Early life

Pascale was the youngest of four siblings born to Henry Auffray and Amielle de Caubios d'Andiran. She had three older brothers, including singer Hugues Aufray. Her other two brothers were named Jean-Paul and Francisco. The latter committed suicide in his later years.

[edit] Career

While she starred in over 25 films between the years of 1955 and 1968, Pascale's success never crossed over internationally, despite a striking resemblence to Audrey Hepburn and a similar acting style. Her career in film, television, stage and music stayed in her native France. One of her most high profile films came when she starred opposite Orson Welles in the 1961 film La Fayette.

[edit] Personal life

Married twice, first to French actor Roger Coggio and then to record producer Francis Dreyfus, it was with her second husband that she had her only child, daughter, Julie, in 1966. That marriage, like her first, also dissolved and they divorced in 1973 after seven years together. After becoming a mother, Pascale sidelined her career in favour of raising her daughter as a single parent, and despite a few minor roles in a few films and some television productions, she never did recapture the success she had begun to achieve in the early sixties.

Julie went on to become an actress herself but found that, unlike her mother, she found more success in Japan and later America when two years after the death of her mother, she starred in revenge epic Kill Bill written and directed by her close friend Quentin Tarantino.

[edit] Death

On Monday 17th July, 2000, Pascale was in the passenger seat of a car, being driven by her companion Rémy Kirch, when it was struck by a heavy goods lorry. Both Pascale and Rémy were killed instantly.
