User talk:Paradoxic

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dear Paradoxic,

You put a bias tag on the Shi'a web page, but didn't put anything on the Talk page about why you did so. I agree that the page is a mess, as a result of a long-running conflict between me and the editor Zereshk, who believes that as a grand ayatollah's grandson he should have final say on what goes on the page. More points of view would be helpful in resolving difficulties. Please join in the fray on the talk page, or try your own edits to fix what you see as bias. But it's hard to fix the page if you don't tell us what's wrong. Zora 02:47, 8 May 2005 (UTC)

I liked your faravahar, want to thank you for uploading it. I have made it my primary purpose to write and often correct (I'm not even talking about POV or anything controversial but dated information) Zoroastrian articles because the lack thereof is pitiful and undeserving of this religion to which other religion's owe more than they'll ever know. If you have any other images I could use 'em! I've got thousands of compiled Zoroastrian pictures all sorted - just not any of which I'm sure about the copyright! If you wanna save me the trouble of creating my own, just drop me a line. Khirad 07:55, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] khosh oomadi

How you doin man? Welcome.

I saw your edit interests. Therefore I thought I'd just give you an overview of sorts on things that have been happening here.

We have some WP Iranian admins if you ever need help. User:Mani1 and User:Roozbeh are working on the Farsi WP. User:Refdoc and User:Pouya do visit once in a while. User:Aytakin is getting voted. User:Pasha Abd and User:Amir85 and User:Babakgh help out regularly too. We have a lot of western editors that have taken the responsibility of protecting our pages (and even helping out with them) too, like User:Jpbrenna, User:Hottentot, User:Jonsafari, User:Fishal, and others.

But we still lack many things. We have some provinces like Yazd province and Kohkiluyeh BoyerAhmad that are still literally empty, and our cultural pages are still largely empty. Im trying to work on the literature pages in the next month or so. I just finished organizing the Iranian architecture page and its related pages to a minimally acceptable level.

I usually like to be contributing to the cultural pages. But sometimes we have editors here that come around and start making lots of trouble.

As youve probably noticed by now, editors like Zora are quite problematic. She has a long history of edit wars against Iranian editors. See this page for example, where she engaged in an edit war for a long time to try to delete any connections between Iran and the Elamites. She supports British-Arab Ahvazi separatists, has been trying to rewrite The Islamic conquest of Iran and Academy of Jundishapur pages constantly, and basically has a big problem with Persians. And that perhaps explains her enmity on the Shia pages as well. Her edit wars can be readhere and here and here and here, ad infinitum.

Kheili kerm mirizeh. Movazebesh baash. Good luck.--Zereshk 18:26, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Labeling

It's not polite to revert to your preferred version and give it a MINOR label, without indicating that it's a revert. It makes it look as if you're trying to hide your revert war. Zora 02:59, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Parsees

Paradoxic, Are there are any Parsees in Iran today? How about followers of Bhai faith?

--DPSingh 16:41, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

Do they live in a particular region or are they present all over Iran? How is there general condition?Your country had a great culture. Also do Parsees still have fire temples in Iran?

--DPSingh 16:53, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

They have temples in Iran, one is located in Yazd where they are commonly located. and there are others throughout the country where they worship. They are usually respected, very little intimidation is known since the islamic revolution. --Paradoxic 17:57, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Please don't accuse me of being a Salafi

Paradoxic, in your summary at Sunni Islam, you as much as accused me of being a Salafi. I'm not even a Muslim -- I'm a Buddhist. I tend to look askance on Salafism because I'm a woman and because I'm a USAian. I try to be fair to it, however -- as I try to be fair to all varieties of Islam. That's the spirit of Wikipedia. Zora 02:22, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

Don't again. gren グレン 04:49, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
Instead of making false, baseless claims out of boredom and belitteling Shi'as on a daily basis in the guise of being neutral and bias-free in virtually EVERY edit why dont you do something productive? I've said that you are fond of Salafite works since your quotes and style of writing (an Anti-Shiite viewpoint, in almost all cases) resembles that of Salafites, it seems that you want to be Salafite more than me calling you one.

[edit] Edit summaries

Use edit summaries. gren グレン 04:49, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Please...

Please do not refer to others' good faith edits as vandalism. Content disputes are precisely not vandalism, please read Wikipedia:Vandalism#What vandalism is not if you can't see why this is a serious breach of civility. Please also be sure to leave edit summaries as often as possible, and always when reverting. And you must discuss on the talk page when you make a contested revert. I say this because I notice that you've been reverting a lot lately. If I may offer some advice. Revert warring is pointless. Since this is a wiki, you can (and most likely will) be reverted as readily as you can revert. The best option is to take this through WP:DR. Thanks. Dmcdevit·t 07:45, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

I would classify excessive deletion of random articles for no apparent reason or debate just a little vandalism, to say the least, but thanks anyway.
Vandalism was clearly not the intent though. Often such charged language just serves to hinder dispute resolution. The best way to defuse an uncivil editor is with politeness, and the best way to provoke another editor is with incivility. Dmcdevit·t 01:19, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
This individual has a long, long, long, history of belitteling two types of groups here, one being the Iranians, the other being the Shia, if you're not familiar with such conduct complained by many people alike spare the lecture. This is an absolute first class mix of excessive censorship, belitteling and vandalism.

[edit] Use of edit summaries

Discussions are usually done in article's talk page, not in edit summaries. Reza Cyrus's article is based around the fact that he is a pretender, it has the box and everything, so its best to discuss it in the talk page rather than just change the intro and leave it out. By the way throwing accusations of "monarchist" is not nice. Ba sepaas, -- -K a s hTalk | email 15:01, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

If you base your whole argument on a Box that happens to be there, let us take away the box and the problem is solved. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Paradoxic (talkcontribs).
I did not argue with you, I am telling you how Wikipedia works. I have to warn you that removing information from Wikipedia is considered vandalism and if you revert to that information more than 3 times you may be blocked from editing. Please do understand that I am not being rude - just reminding you about the Wikipedia rules. Thanks, -- -K a s hTalk | email 15:33, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 3 revert rule violation

Regarding your recent edits to Mohammad Reza Pahlavi:

You have been temporarily blocked for violation of the three-revert rule. Please feel free to return after the block expires, but also please make an effort to discuss your changes further in the future. --InShaneee 16:00, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] pretender

An heir who is viewed as the man/woman who would be king/queen/emperor is by definition a pretender. Pahlavi had made it clear that he would take the throne if it is offered. That makes him the pretender. FearÉIREANN\(caint) 20:05, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Yes, but you are assuming that there is no chance that Pahlavi will ever return to the throne not to mention the greater assumption which you are making regarding whether or not the throne even exists to be returned to.This is a possibility which cannot be 100% ruled out.The throne was certainly still there during the administration of Mossadegh and the monarchy returned to it. --Strothra 20:15, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

I'm not presuming that at all. It may well do. But right now it no longer exists.A crown prince of an abolished monarchy is described as a pretender. FearÉIREANN\(caint) 20:35, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Who's to say that it's abolished? It's just currently not in power but that does not mean that it cannot exist in absentia. For instance, the Taiwanese government is considered by many, and even considers itself, to be the true Chinese government but is under constant physical threat by the Communist Chinese government occupying the mainland.Simply because it is not the force physically dominating the land does not mean that the Taiwanese China government does not exist. --Strothra 00:38, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Faravahar.png

Howdy! User:Pfctdayelise brought to my attention the fact that Image:Faravahar.png on Wikimedia Commons was claimed "From English wikipedia by Paradoxic", though it appears that the original file and statement are now deleted and inaccessible. I'd just like to confirm that you created the image yourself, or have received permission from its creator to upload it under the GFDL. Please leave me a note on my talk page when you get this message, or just clarify the situation over on the Commons yourself. Happy editing! :) GeeJo (t)(c) • 17:05, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
