[edit] Problem - incorrect shield depicted
Problem: Depicted shield is not actually a parma. Depicted shield is a 'gallic shield'. (Refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shield). Parma refers to a ROUND shield, with a wicker core, covered by ox-hide, and probably with a metal boss in the center. Theblindsage 05:52, 8 February 2007 (UTC) The dimensions given for the shield clearly fail to match the shield in the picture. If the parma is a ROUND shield, the 'yard across' would make a lot more sense.
