Paroles... paroles...
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Paroles, paroles (english: Words, words) is a duet sung by the French pop singer Dalida with the actor Alain Delon. It was released in 1973 and became an enormous hit in France, Japan, Canada, and many other countries. The duet is legendary and has become an evergreen.
The song's theme is about the loss of love and hollow words. It intertwines Dalida's lamentation of the end of love and the lies she has to hear, while Delon simply speaks and does not sing. She reacts, comments and scoffs at the compliments that he gives her, calling them simply empty words (paroles). The tune of the song is in a melancholic bossa nova style.
The song was also sung by the Italian artist Mina with Alberto Lupo in 1971.
