Park City High School

Park City High School, in the state of Utah, ranks 150th on Newsweek's most recent Complete List of the 1,000 Top U.S. Schools, with an index of 2.494. [1] This is the highest ranking of any school in the state of Utah (second place is West High School in Salt Lake City, at 191st). It is located at 1750 Kearns Blvd in Park City, Utah.

[edit] Acadecmic Decathlon
Park City's Academic Decathlon team has been the state champion every year since 2003. They also captured the state championship four straight years from 1997-2001. [2] They have historically done quite well at the National Finals. Last year, Park City High School's Academic Decathlon team was named the National Small School Champion at the 2006 USAD National Finals, taking home the "Gold Banner" for Division III. Of nine competitors, three took medals for their overall scores. [3] Park City High School's 2007 Academic Decathlon team was recently named state champion, and will participate in the National Finals for the fifth consecutive year, held this year in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Other programs of historical success include the girl's cross country team, who have won the 3A state competition for the last 5 consecutive years, including two overall state titles; both the boy's and girl's soccer teams, and the golf team. The Park City High School Hockey team was recently crowed the Utah Independent State Champions. [4]

Park City High school routinely scores above national and state averages on standardized tests. On the 2005 Iowa Test of Basic Skills, the school scored, on average, 22 percent above the country's average and 13 percent above Utah's average. [5]The school is part of Park City High School is currently undergoing a reconstruction, which is projected to end in 2008. In November of 2006, the construction crew announced that an "unexpected delay" had set them back 4 weeks.
