Paravur is a city and a municipality in Kollam district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is a coastal resort town, about 15 km from the town of Kollam and 60 km from Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital. It lies on the Malabar Coast of India, fronting on the Arabian Sea.

Paravur has the largest natural Backwater lakes (the Paravur Kayal) in South Asia. It has a number of tourist resorts, with facilities for boating, swimming and surfing. Fishing is permitted, but requires permission.

As of 2001 India census^GRIndia, Paravur had a population of 38,649. Males constitute 47% of the population and females 53%. Paravur has an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 77%. In Paravur, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
