Parathoor is a traditional Nair family with history dating back to 100s of years.An aristocratic family made famous by the Parathoor Vaidhyans -Famed for Medical Treatment esp.Snake Bites,the Tharavadu (Naalukettu) is located in Central Travancore in the village of Pallickal Naduvilemuri -Bharanikkavu Panchayat. The Kaavu houses the Kudumba Devatha (Family goddess), Yakshiyamma and the Dharmadeyvangal-Nagaraja and Nagayakshiyamma (Sarpadeyvam)beneath the paalamaram.Adjacent to it is the Kulam.The Yogeeswaran is housed at Kannampethu Kudumbham an offshoot of the Tharavad.The other Nagadevata shrine is housed at the western corner of Munjanattukuttiyil Kudumbham. Monthly Pooja is performed by the family members.

From Mavelikkara-Towards Kattanam via Kuratikadu, take a diversion at the Bharanikkavu Devi Temple towards West approx 1 1/2 kms -Pallickal Naduvilemuri and you are there. From Kayamkulam-Towards Punalur Take diversions to North at either 3rd Mile (Moonam Kutty) or at Koyickal Chantha (Market) -1/2 km and you are there. The family has offshoots and links in Eruva, Avoor, Ambalapuzha, Punalur, Kottampallil, Bharanikkavu, Chingolil, Nooranadu, Karimulackal, Chenntithala. The members regard Mannadi, Malayalappuzha, Eruva, Avoor, Karazhma and Shargekkavu Temples as Janmams (varies in offshoots).
