Paradisec

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pacific and Regional Archive for Digital Sources in Endangered Cultures (Paradisec) is a project that supports work on endangered languages of the Pacific and the region around Australia. It digitizes reel-to reel field tapes and has a mass data store using international standards for metadata description. It is part of the worldwide community of language archives (http://www.delaman.org and http://www.language-archives.org). It is crucial to ensure that unique recordings of small languages are themselves preserved for the future. PARADISEC is actively involved in training and supporting language workers.
