Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is a 2-year community college in Phoenix, Arizona.
Despite its name, it is located many miles from the actual town of Paradise Valley, Arizona, which is adjacent to Phoenix but independent from it.
The neighborhood in northeast Phoenix containing PVCC is also called Paradise Valley, home to Paradise Valley Community Center, Paradise Valley High School, and Paradise Valley Golf Course.
PVCC was founded in 1985 and opened during 1987. A variety of liberal arts, technical, and vocational programs are offered. It awards the two-year associate's degree as well as non-credit courses. Initially, the campus was small and isolated, but with local growth, it has added offices, classrooms, and a performing arts center.
It is part of the Maricopa County Community College District, among the largest in the country.
Valley Metro buses serve the campus. For many years, the campus was served by express route 500, but in 2003, this service was cancelled and replaced with the RAPID service that departs from Bell Road and State Route 51 Park-and-Ride. Route 32-32nd Street runs during rush hours to Shea and State Route 51 (on part of the former Route 500 route) to connect with RAPID buses.
The school mascot is the Puma. Current enrollment, as of 2005, is about 7,800.
