Parabola is the name of the second single from Tool's album "Lateralus".

It was released in 2002 as a promo CD only. In support of this promo single, a music video was released — clocking in at over ten minutes, it hardly met the criteria for being broadcast on mainstream music video stations, although some channels worked around this by cutting off the "Parabol" segment.

On December 20, 2005, the song as well as the music video were released on a DVD single along with the DVD single for "Schism". The DVD also contains an additional version of the video with audio commentary by Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys fame.

[edit] Trivia

  • Parabola is, along with Disposition, one of the very few songs on Lateralus to feature very minor time signature changes. It is thoroughly in 4/4 besides the short interlude in the middle part, which is in 11/8 and 15/8.
  • The lines with dots on the Immortalized man during the outro are a basic acupuncture chart.
