Pandit D K Bankwar

One of the eminent persons of Harda was Pandit Bankwar who was a famous Lawyer and Leader of Hindu Mahasabha during late 1890s.

He was a close associate of Veer Sawarkar and invited him to Harda.

While conducting the law profession, he shun English clothing and attended court in Indian Clothing consisting of Dhoti, Uparna and Jacket. He also wore Pagdi similar to what was worn by Lokmanya Tilak.

Pandit D K Bankwar was proficient in 7 Upnishads and ShriMadBhagwatGita which he memorized completely.

He went to Jail quite a few times during freedom movement.

Despite of being associated with RSS/Hindu Mahasabha, in 1949, he married his daughter Sindhu Bankwar(now Sarojini Dhulekar) to son Vasant Raghunath Dhulekar of eminent Congress Leader of Jhansi Pandit Raghunath Vinayak Dhulekar

This was the greatness of both the personalities and by the fact that even though both had different line of thinking but the eventual goal was same Total Independence from British Imperialism.
