Panda Moor

The panda moor goldfish, Carassius Auratus, is an aquarium fish available from about 1995. It is not rare and can be found easily at many Aquatic Centres. It is similar to a fantail in shape and comes (like the name suggests) in panda colours, black and white. It is a color variation of the Telescope Eye Goldfish. Like the other moors it has slightly protruding eyes which protrude on small eye stalks. Panda moors are slightly sight impaired because of the angle of their eyes so it's best to have other sight impaired fish as tank mates.

They are a very hardy, cold water fish, although they will not tolerate temperatures below 55 degrees fahrenheit. The panda moor is a cold water fish with a gentle nature. Being a cold water fish does not mean it can tolerate drastic changes in the temperature of its tank, though. Most types of goldfish, the panda moor included, need a constant temperature above 10 degrees celsius in their tanks. This is why buying a heater is a good idea, if your home does not have central heating, and also why a pond is not an ideal habitat for panda moors. They are compatible with all the fancy varieties of goldfish.
