Panchalankurichi

Panchalankurichi is a small but historic village, 3 km from Ottapidaram and 18 km from Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu in India.Panchalankurichi was once a Palayam and the birth place of Veerapandiya Kattabomman,a 17th century Palayakarrar (Polygar),who opposed the British colonial rule in India and their Tax collecting methods.Later he was captured and hanged by the British.

Today Panchalankurichi is a tourist center with Kattabomman Memorial Fort being the major attraction.
