Pampulha Domestic Airport (IATA: PLU, ICAO: SBBH) or Carlos Drummond de Andrade Airport, is Belo Horizonte's secondary airport, dealing mostly with domestic flights. In April 2005, the state's government has decided to move most of its traffic to Tancredo Neves International Airport, due to the fact that Pampulha couldn't support the amount of traffic it was handling. It deals now mostly with inner state traffic. However, some companies still run interstate flights from Pampulha.

On November 16 2004, Brazil's president Luis Inácio Lula da Silva has changed the airport's name, officially, to Aeroporto de Belo Horizonte/Pampulha - MG - Carlos Drummond de Andrade, in homage to Brazilian writer Carlos Drummond de Andrade, born in Itabira, a city of the state of Minas Gerais. It is a homage to one of the greatest writers in the history of Brazilian literature.
