Pame

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pames are an indigenous people of central Mexico living in the state of San Luis Potosí. They call themselves Xi'úi. They speak the Pame language, which belongs to the Oto-Pamean group of the Oto-Manguean linguistic family.

According to some sources about the Chichimecan wars they were the least warlike of all the Chichimeca tribes.

Junípero Serra learned the Pame language and translated the catechism into Pame.
