An unpublished paper shows that the holotype of Paleorhinus bransomi is not diagnostic enough to justify a synonymy of Paleorhinus with Ebachosuchus, Francosuchus, Mesorhinosuchus, Parasuchus, or Promystriosuchus. [1] For this reason, the species list in the Taxobox should be updated.

Chatterjee (2001) petitioned the ICZN to replace the original type specimen of Parasuchus hislopi, a fragmentary premaxilla, with a complete skeleton. The ICZN (2003) officially designated a complete skeleton, ISIR 142, as the neotype of Parasuchus.
