- Palo Alto High School ("Paly") — Opened in 1898, moved to current site in 1918
- Henry M. Gunn High School ("Gunn") — Opened in 1964
- Cubberley High School — Opened in 1956, Closed in 1979

- Terman Middle School — recently moved to new Arastradero location; reopened in 2001
- Jordan Middle School — located in Midtown/Northern part of Palo Alto
- Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School — located in southern Palo Alto; has 1000 students

- Juana Briones School — The school offers grades K-5. Students usually attend Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School after graduating. Juana Briones' mascot is the Bobcat.

- Fairmeadow School — 366 students (2006-2007 school year) attend Kindergarten through 5th grade and then usually go on to Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School and then Gunn High School. The campus includes the nationally recognized Jackson Hearing Center. The school's motto is "Learning is a Team Sport." Fairmeadow's mascot is the Firebird.
