Palmer is a village in Merrick County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 472 at the 2000 census.

Palmer is located at 41°13′18″N, 98°15′28″W (41.221629, -98.257675)^GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.4 km² (0.5 mi²), all land.

As of the census^GR2 of the year 2000 , there were 472 people, 189 households, and 122 families residing in the village. The population density was 343.8/km² (891.8/mi²). There were 202 housing units at an average density of 147.2/km² (381.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.94% White, 0.21% Asian, 0.64% from other races, and 0.21% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.69% of the population.

There were 189 households out of which 30.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.6% were married couples living together, 6.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.4% were non-families. 30.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.98.

In the village the population was spread out with 26.1% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 22.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 91.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.6 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $33,676, and the median income for a family was $37,969. Males had a median income of $25,673 versus $19,000 for females. The per capita income for the village was $16,589. About 9.3% of families and 8.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.9% of those under age 18 and 8.5% of those age 65 or over.
