Palmachim (Hebrew: פלמחים) is a kibbutz in Israel about ten kilometers south of Tel Aviv by the shore of the Mediterranean Sea at . Its nearest town is Rishon LeZion.
Palmachim was created in the year after the establishment of the State of Israel by former members of the underground organization Palmach; hence its name. The kibbutz produces agricultural goods and spancrete, high tensile strength concrete products.
Close by are the ruins of the ancient city of Yavne.
In addition, nearby is the Palmachim Air Force Base which houses rocket testing grounds and space launching facilities for the Israel Defense Forces and the Israeli Space Agency. Shavit rockets with Ofeq satellites were launched from this site. The base is also home to several IAF helicopter squadrons.
Also nearby is the Soreq Nuclear Research Center (sometimes spelled "Sorek") which houses a small (5MW) nuclear research reactor.
