"Pale Shelter (You Don't Give Me Love)" is a song originally written by Roland Orzabal of the British band Tears for Fears. It was the band's second release, and the first of three versions of the song that would eventually see release as singles. "Pale Shelter" and its b-side "The Prisoner" are the only released Tears for Fears recordings that feature Mike Howlett as producer. Both songs would later be re-recorded with producer Chris Hughes for inclusion on the band's debut LP The Hurting in 1983.
[edit] Reissue
Following up on the massive success of the band's sophomore LP Songs from the Big Chair, Mercury Records reissued the single in 1985 complete with a new picture sleeve. It managed to crack the UK Top 75 after failing to chart altogether the first time around. This release featured a slightly longer 7" version of the title track.
