Palamaner is one of the prominent towns of Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh located on the NH4 Highway which connects Bangalore and Chennai. Being on the border of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka you encounter a mixture of languages and cultures. It has a population of around 50000. Major villages near Palamaner are V.Kota, Baireddipalli, Pathikonda, Gangavaram, Lakkanapalli, Eduru.
As its on the border of TamilNadu, Karnataka and AndhraPradesh you would find people with different cultures and origins. People in Palamaner are soft, kind, timid and most importantly socially aware. The society here is closely knitted that every person knows their neighbors well while people here are so affectionate to each other. The name PALAMANER has originated from the name "PALLAVAN EERU". EERU in tamil means a LAKE which was dug by PALLAVA's for the people living around. The temperatures are moderate as it is located at a higher altitude. It is surrounded by valleys, hills, falls and forests. The forest cover around the town is famous for the wild elephants. This is the only place in Andhra Pradesh with wild elephants.
The typical day in Palamaner starts from 8am when all the shops start opening and ends before 9pm when everyone starts going to bed. Everyday you would see tons of vehicles passing by the main-road as it connects Chennai and Banglore which has turned out to be a nice place to stick to small business.
Travelling through time machine way back in time, in the later 1930's pleague prevailed in the region taking thousands of lives which then got controlled by praying god in the form of Ganga Jatra. It happens in the month of May every year and people from different regions participate for blessings and well being from the holy deity "Gangamma".
The town has a Cattle Farm which helped the breeding programs of the region. The reason for the popularity of Dairy Industry stems from the efforts of this Institute. Emmaus Swiss School and Leprosy Hospital also help this region in providing Health and Education services.
The town is also popular for Pottery. One can encounter road side shops with beautiful pieces of pottery work. This town was popular for roof tile manufacturing for a long time.
Rural areas near Palamaner are famous in silk production, so govt has decided to setup textile park in 500 acres. And it is also famous for Tamato Commisson market, where farmers from different parts of district will come to sell the tomatos.
Palamaner is 200 kms from Chennai, 136 Kms from Bangalore and 108 Kms from Tirupathi. So this is next hot spot for many industries.
The town has a mixture of Muslim and Christian communities apart from the majority Hindu population.
