You may edit this page: If you have something to say to me, use my talk page. If you have something to say about me, or can think of a way to make my user page look better, by all means edit it. It's worked great for various other Wikipedians, so I figured why not? :)
My name is Nathan, and I graduated in May 2004 from the University at Buffalo with my BS in computer science and am now attending RIT for my MS work, with the long-term goal of becoming a college professor (probably in computability theory).
This is me, until I can get a pic with better lighting (the computer's in the basement, with the lights behind it, and there's no way to hold the webcam so it points at me but the lighting is good and I can see the screen):
Statement of POVs, intrinsic biases and self-descriptions:
- Atheist
- Aspie and proud of it
- straight with some Bisexual leanings. I don't personally like the term "bicurious."
- Depressed for several years, now fully recovered (I have trouble in times of stress, but so do we all)
- not a registered Democrat, but agree with them on many issues
- Minarchist libertarian
- Transhumanist (to some extent Singularitarian)
- Vegetarian, but not devout
- Been around over two years, and consider myself a friend of Jimbo Wales and various other Wikipedians
Strongly opposed to:
- the vast majority of alternative medicine, especially when used for conditions which are not self-limiting or when used to knowingly defraud people
- Communism which I feel has been experimentally shown not to work
- Cults and cult-like groups
- most Electronic voting as presently conducted in the US
- Edit warring over trivialities.
- Perpetual motion, also including "free energy" or "Casimir" devices

- I believe that, while skepticism is the right attitude, cold fusion cannot be completely ruled out and perhaps was dismissed prematurely (but is unlikely to be a practical power source, even if it is a real phenomenon). My main goal in editing the cold fusion article is to keep to the NPOV, and have an article that is fair to everyone (but recognizes that those involved in cold fusion are a distinct minority)
I am a sysop, although my contributions in that regard are somewhat minor. I firmly believe that sysops should use our abilities only as servants of the community. I am also a bureaucrat, and help out with bureaucratic tasks when it's needed (which is perhaps an hour a week of work between all of us, so that also isn't my major contribution to Wikipedia).
If you disagree with any of my actions, please discuss it on my talk page, or email me using the "email this user" option below; I try to check my email every 12 hours around the clock.
