Pako Ayesteran was born in Spain 5 February 1963. He followed Rafael Benítez from Valencia to Liverpool F.C. in July 2004 and is the Reds' assistant manager.
Ayesteran was Benítez's assistant at Valencia and was also the fitness coach. He is an astute football tactician and during the pre-season in 2004, introduced a new training and fitness regime for Liverpool.
Rafael Benítez said: "Pako Ayesteran is my assistant manager. He plans the training work with me and controls the physical work of the team. He came with me from Valencia and is a coach who shares my ideas on the game."
