Mariyah Moten, Pakistan's first Miss Bikini Pakistan made history in the year 2006, coming out as the winner for the Miss Bikini Universe 2006 pageant, held in China. Mariyah won the Best in Media/ Miss Press title and within a few days became the headlines of the world.
Some fundamentalists were outraged that a young Pakistani women did this right in front of them and they were unable to do anything about it.
The Pakistani government had to take out statements saying that they were going to investigate the matter. The Pakistani government which has become a liberal government is trying to turn the other way, as they want a secular Pakistan. Hardliners are ofcourse against this idea. Companies like: Miss Pakistan World, Miss Canada Pakistan and follow the main goal of separating religion and entertainment. They are very successful and are becoming global day by day. [1]
