Pakistan Military Academy

Pakistan Military Academy (or PMA) is a Military Academy of the Pakistan Army. It is located at Kakul near Abbottabad in NWFP, Pakistan. The Pakistan Military Academy is equivalent to Sandhurst or West Point or Tironut and provides training to the officers of Pakistan Army. The academy has three training battalions and twelve companies. It is due to the high training standards that this academy has achieved, that cadets of more than 34 countries are imparted military training in this institution. The location, standard of training, and grooming of this cradle of leadership is worth seeing.

It is universally regarded as one of the finest military academies in the world, with strong associations with other leading military academies and institutions across the world. There are five courses running parallel to each other which are:- Long Course Technical Graduate Course Graduate Course Integrated Course Ladies Course Long course is for the cadets who join all arms and services after their commission, technical graduate course is for the cadets who have already done their degrees in the military college of signals, EME college and MCE risalpur, IC is for the cadets of medical services, and ladies are the new induction in the Pakistan Army who will be joining computer and IT branches afterwards. Long Course is of Two Years duration which is further divided into four Terms of Six month each. at the end of each term there is a break of one month before new term commences. TGC,IC,GC,LC are of one,six month,one year and six month duration respectively. In four terms of PMA Gentlemen Cadets(GCs) are subjected to a NO of strenuous activities and they to qualify various tests failing to which they are relegated. At the end of the course they are given a Bachelor Of Science or Arts Degree. GCs are required to pass various physical tests which include one mile running in six minutes, chin-ups,push ups,sit ups,nine mile,five mile,assault course,ACID TEST,and various athletic tests such as horse. There are a no training exercises for military operations which include KICK OFF in first term,YARMOOK and KHANDAK in second term,PATH FINDER,TM RAIDERS,PANIPATT in third term and QIADAT in Final term.In second term GCs are required to spend three minutes in the Boxing Ring with another opponent for which a lot of practice is carried out. Two years of rigorous training culminates with the passing out parade for which every cadet dreams every night in his stay at the academy. in Passing out paraded distinguished Cadets are awarded prizes. Gentlemen Cadet getting Over All first Posn In Course is awarded Sword OF Honor,Second Best is Awarded President Gold Medal.COAS Cane is awarded to best GC in TGC and IC respectively.
