Pakalkuri

Pakalkuri (പകല്കുറി) is one of the northern most village in Thiruvananthapuram District in Kerala, India. It situated on the banks of the Ithikkara River. Ithikkara River separates Thiruvananthapuram District and Kollam District.
Pakalkuri belongs to Pallickal panchayathu in Chirankizhu taluk in Thiruvananthapuram District. One can reach Pakalkuri from Kilimanoor via Pallickal, Parippally via Kulamada and Kottarakkara via Oyoor.
The main centers in Pakalkuri are Guru Chengannoor Kathakali Akademi (Kala Bharathi), Govt Vocational Higher Secondary school, Lower Primary school, Post Office, South Indian Bank, Mahadever Temple, Muslim Mosque, Kerala Ghandi Smaraka Nidhi Kendra (Khadi Board), cashew nut Factory and the Pakalkuri Market.
Guru Chengannoor Kathakali Akademi (Kala Bharathi), situated near Pakalkuri temple, is one of the Kathakali Institution in keala, Kathakali sangeetaham, Chenda etc are also studied in this school. Sri. Madavur Vasudevan Nair has taken charge as the Principal of this institution.
Pakalkuri Govt Higher Secondary school is located at the Pakakuri junction. Standard 5 to 10 , Plus Two and Vocational courses (Accounting and Auditing) are offered in this school.
Pakalkuri Mahadever Temple is situated in the banks of Ithikkara River. It is one of the few temples in kerala, which offers "Darsanam" to the western direction. The "Prathista" in this temple is god Mahavishnu. Sivan, Ganapathi, Devi, Ayyappa are also there as "Upaprathista". There are a number of "Utsavams" in this temple. The great "Mahotsavam" starts ten days before the Sivarathri day and ends on Sivarathri. Gajamela is one of the attractions of the "Mahotsavam" which occurs in the ninth day.
Pakalkuri Mosque is the religious kendra of the Muslims in Pakalkuri. A Madrasah is working associated with the Mosque. The mosque is famous for "Matha Prabhashanam" (Religious talk).
Kerala Ghandi Smaraka Nidhi Kendra located at Kottiyam muku is under the government which produces cloths and offers job to women in the village. The Cashew nut Factory which is located at "Arayil" is also offers job to the women in the village.
A granite crusher unit and a Government Veterinary Center are also working in pakalkuri.

Pakalkuri Market is working on Sunday and Wednesday in a week. People can purchase Fish, Meat, vegetables, agricultural tools, stationary items from the market during those days.
