[edit] Adminship

Would you be at all interested if I were to nominate you? jacoplane 02:46, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Wow, it sounds cheesy but I'm honored. Yes, I am interested; I've started becoming more active in WP:AFD and WP:TFD recently as well as marking images for speedy deletion, so I feel like I'm taking on more of a janitorial role. Any advice before I'm subjected to the gauntlet? Pagrashtak 03:45, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
You've got my vote ^_^ Deckiller 03:50, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
FYI I'm going to wait a while to see how Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/larsinio turns out. There seems to be a rather negative attitude towards WikiProject contributors in RfA at the moment. I strongly disagree that only those who are very much involved with process rather than those who focus on writing articles should qualify for adminship. After all, we are not creating a bureaucracy here, we are attempting to write an encyclopedia. I haven't forgotton about nominating you, but I'm going to get back to it in a while. jacoplane 02:25, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
I think the main objection is not that he is a WikiProject contributor, but that his Wikipedia space edits are not in enough policy-related areas, such as *FD. Pagrashtak 00:45, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Yes, however, since Jimbo has said that adminship should be "no big deal", I find it rather objectionable that a lot of users who haven't really looked at his contributions are opposing. My main problem is that they seem to be looking more at his profile on Interiot's tool rather than his actual contributions. I don't know if you've been monitoring RfA at all, but it seems to me that there are a lot of users who have looked closely at what the requirements are for RfA and have implemented those requirements. The end result is that we get a lot of admins who are good at gaming the system, but not so good at writing encyclopedia articles. This bothers me quite a lot. Anyway, if I were you I would start preparing your answers to the standard RfA questions (think about the ones NSLE tends to pose too) and we'll make your nomination happen. Do you use IRC at all? I'm usually on freenode, /msg me (jacoplane) if you wish to discuss. I'm on holiday in the south of france for this week, but I should be fully back next week. Take care, jacoplane 01:24, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
I agree about Interiot's tool, it's a double-edged sword. I keep an eye on RFA, but I don't vote too often. I voted for Deckiller because I'm familiar with him and I know he's a good editor. I hope you have a good vacation, are you going anywhere near Nice? I spent a week around there on an international marching band trip in college. Pagrashtak 03:37, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA

Hey Pagrashtak/archive3, how is it going? Thank you for supporting my Request for adminship! It passed with a final vote of 73/1/1, which means that I have been granted adminship! I look forward to using these tools to enhance and maintain this wonderful site. I will continue regular article/project contributions, but I will also allocate a sizable portion of my wikischedule toward administrative duties :) Thanks again, and if you have any questions/comments/tips, please let me know! — Deckiller 04:57, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Albatross

Thanks for your support for the Albatross FAC, and for doing some copyediting. I'm not quite sure why you considered seabird a parent category in this instance. I admit I do not do a great deal of categorising of articles and the like but most marine families are have the seabird category (like Skua) in addition to their category pages being subcategories of the seabird category. Sabine's Sunbird talk 17:00, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

No problem. Seabird is a parent category simply because Category:Albatrosses is placed in the category Category:Seabirds. It's pretty typical to place articles in only the most specific categories. Pagrashtak 21:13, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Paper Mario

As per this edit, I thought I'd inform you that Wikipedia:Piped link states piped links to "years in video game" articles should be avoided as it does not directly relate to the information displayed. (One may not know that "2005" is actually a link to "2005 in video gaming".) Therefore, I must revert your edit. Thanks. —Eternal Equinox | talk 02:19, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Hey Pagrashtak, I was wondering if you could clear something for me. If you visit this section of the Majora's Mask article, you will notice that the last paragraph is missing a reference (...The Legend of Zelda: Mujula's Mask in Japan and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask elsewhere). Could you possibly search for one? I'm a bit skeptical to believe whether the title is truly Mujula in Japan. —Eternal Equinox | talk 15:06, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

No problem, done. Pagrashtak 22:12, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. —Eternal Equinox | talk 14:45, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hey, thanks

Thanks for adding those references to the Final Fantasy VIII page. We were 1 second away from deleting all sales figures info in that section. Thanks a lot. You've given us something to work with. Ryu Kaze 05:41, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

No problem. I wish I could find a reference for the eight million sales, though. You can always switch that to six instead of deleting it. Pagrashtak 05:48, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Clarinet

I see that you are a clarinet player. Excuse me if I'm digging a hole too deep, but are you aware of who the manufacturer is? —Eternal Equinox | talk 23:28, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

From the archive: I've got a plastic Vito, wooden Henkin (which I believe is now Artley), and a wooden Buffet Crampon. Pagrashtak 15:37, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Paper Mario article

I wanted to stop by and thank you for the good job that you, among others, have done in improving the Paper Mario article. Commenting out the boss list is a good idea, and your help with references is invaluable. If we keep this up, we can make featured article status yet. --Danaman5 22:51, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

Hey, Pagrashtak. I'm too lazy to create a new sub-heading for this topic, but I'd like to inform you that I created this account at a different library and not the Toronto Reference Library as I've also noted on Wikipedia talk:Featured article candidates. You were wrong, but it was a fair assumption so no worries about the situation. I'm sorry that I brought your name into it, but it was a piece of evidence I had held from a while ago in case such an occasion materialized. Bishonen currently has no idea what she is talking about. You are, if you'd like, welcome to continue participating in the conversation. However, of course, you don't have to if you don't want to.
On the Paper Mario note, I was wondering that if you had the time, could you help me clean it up? I ask this of you because of the speedy promotion that was The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. —Eternal Equinox | talk 14:37, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Maybe you've noticed, but I've being doing a little work on it from time to time. Unfortunately, I've been a little busy lately. Pagrashtak 03:29, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
Sorry that I am responding so late. Anyway, if you ever find the time, your assistance would be appreciated. —Eternal Equinox | talk 15:34, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Name

Is it sad that I know exactly what your name means? :P Jpers36 21:34, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you

I was unaware of that WP:CVG policy and I noticed you reverted the previous edits, so thank you. I will endevour to use piped links rather than redirects, in an effort to be less lazy :P Cheers, -- CHANLORD [T]/[C] 04:15, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Additionally, please let me know when you are a WP:RFA starts for you. I will happily support it. -- CHANLORD [T]/[C] 04:17, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
No problem, the usage of those ESRB images is pretty widespread, I'm going through a bunch of articles right now and removing them. Thanks for the encouragement about adminship! Pagrashtak 04:27, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ESRB

Just advising, GTA San Andreas and other gaming articles has ESRB images in the profile. --Phair 15:09, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] You want to know why

I left Wikipedia? As if you didn't know? Why don't you visit this site, which has been repeatedly shoved in my IM accounts, or ask any one of the massive number of people who have been attacking me on AIM or Yahoo since [this edit]? I've been attacked repeatedly over the last several days off Wikipedia, as if you didn't know. So, you know what? I'm done with this place. Daniel Davis 22:14, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Well of course I didn't know that. How would I possibly know that you were being attacked on AIM or Yahoo? I understand now the comment about ridiculous harassment you left on your user page, that really is ridiculous. I'm glad to know that I'm not the direct cause of your leaving (I wasn't sure if you felt I was a source of harassment based on your exit message), but I'm upset that other Wikipedians would treat you so poorly. There's no excuse for that. Pagrashtak 22:24, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiPro

I've decided to create a WikiProject devoted to discussing what articles qualify as gamecruft, and what do not. Contact me if you are interested, or have questions. - A Link to the Past (talk) 08:15, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My Eyes Are Open

My god, how could I have been so blind? How could I not have known what was going on?

I suppose an explanation is in order.

As many people here know, for the past half a year me, Hinotori, Jedi6, GoldDragon and a phalanx of other users have been involved in protecting the NeoWin, Ken Kutaragi and several other articles against a prolific vandal who went by the username of Brazil4Linux. He repeatedly attacked not only articles, but vandalized userpages and threw some rather vile personal attacks at all who were involved, using both anon IP addresses and sockpuppets.

I thought he had stopped, but in reality...

He was stalking me using a stealthy sockpuppet called Rick Browser, waiting for the right opportunity. He saw that an edit conflict might be building regarding the ESRB article after my first post, so HE was the one who began attacking me over my IM accounts, and as soon as he saw a chance, he's also once again lept into action on Wiki itself, using both his anon IPs and his Rick Browser sockpuppet to try and make one last dig and chase me off Wikipedia.

God, how could I have been so stupid and not figured this out from the start? Many apologies regarding anything I may have said before, Pagrashtak, and for the whole edit conflict. I should have known better than to allow myself to be goaded into losing my temper by a sockpuppet, especially one attached to Brazil4Linux.

I'm not going to be chased off Wikipedia that easily. Many happy edits to all legitimate users, and a joyous April to all! Daniel Davis 03:04, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

Great, I'm really glad we got this whole thing sorted out without losing an editor. There's no hard feelings over here, so let me issue a hearty "Welcome back!" Just so you know the email is really from me, I've sent you a email. Pagrashtak 06:37, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Workshop

Hi, I've nominated the workshop for the WP:GCOTW. Hopefully we can get some input from the Wikiproject and finally get this thing going. jacoplane 14:03, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disambiguation query

Hello - yes, I apologise for my oversight - this was an obviously ambiguous entry, had I given it a thought. Yes, it was Scandinavian Airlines to which I was referring. Ballista 06:05, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Question

Hey, I was checking out Dijxtra's rfa and had a question. Is it ok for a user to delete/take out another user's comments from their talk page? B/c Dijxtra deleted something I left on his talk page from about March 3. --Osbus 18:23, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Looking at his user page, it appears he was reverting your edits because you modified the comments left by other users. Generally editors do not modify other user's comments as a courtesy, with exceptions such as removing or refactoring personal attacks or reverting obvious vandalism. The comments you modified were not personal attacks, so I think it's perfectly reasonable that Dijxtra reverted to restore the original comments. Pagrashtak 20:28, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks...yeah, there was a period of time where whenever I edited a portion of the page, I would accidentally screw up the whole thing. --Osbus 21:30, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Ah, I bet that was an automatic filter. Were you editing from a school computer? Pagrashtak 21:34, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
No, it was from my laptop. And the strange part is that the problem never occurred in my first few edits, and is now solved, even though I didn't change anything in my computer. --Osbus 21:47, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] C&VG

I have changed the title to List of deaths attributed to computer or video games and would like to request that you take a look again at this nomination. The attributions are verified, including, in at least one case the deputy coroner. There is no policy against such lists, and it serves a useful purpose in identifying deaths that have, in fact, been attributed to c&vg by reputable source. Yours, For great justice. 06:53, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I've nominated you for Adminship

Please go here to accept or the decline the nomination. \o/ jacoplane 22:45, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

If you do accept, you should take some time to answer the questions in some detail. In the past I've seen a number of quite worthy nominees fail their RFA because they gave short answers which some people saw as a lack of effort. But you probably knew that already :) jacoplane 22:55, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for participating in my RfA. Since now I'm an admin, I'll do my best not to turn the community confidence down. If in any point in the future you get the feeling I'm doing something wrong, do not hesitate to drop me a line since I'm always open for constructive criticism. --Dijxtra 11:44, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Majora's Mask

I found an unsourced sentence in the Majora's Mask article. At this rate, I apologize if I am vexing you in any way possible, but I believe this sentence should be referenced since it includes the word "assumed": It is assumed by the media that Zelda: Gaiden is the new working title for Ura Zelda. Thanks much. —Eternal Equinox | talk 01:11, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi, sorry I didn't respond to the note you left on my talk page about the unreferenced sentence in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask; I've been busy lately. I've added the sentence back with a reference, which was the same reference as the previous sentence. If you feel the need to remove a sentence just because it is unreferenced, it would be helpful if you could comment the sentence out instead of actually removing it, possibly with a note stating why is it commented. That makes it easier to add the sentence back if needed, and will prompt future editors that a reference needs to be added. Thanks, Pagrashtak 05:14, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Commenting out a sentence would be preferrable, yes, I agree with you. I will make sure to take this step in the future. I apologize for not waiting a substantial amount of time because I should have predicted that you were busy. I'll make sure to extend my patience next time. Congratulations on your sysop accomplishment; if I require any assistance, I'll contact you. —Eternal Equinox | talk 15:07, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
It's not a big deal. Pagrashtak 03:51, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Mariostar.gif

Why do you say the tiny little Image:Mariostar.gif is not pd-ineligible? The screenshot as a whole would be fair use, but the star is just a small part of that. My rationale for calling it pd-ineligible is that it's only 256 pixels, including all the transparent ones, and three colours. And even at that, it's just a standard solid pentagram with a quick-and-dirty bevel and two little vertical lines for eyes. If Nintendo wins damages against anyone over that, then the terrorists have won, and I'd like to know what would be ineligible. I would appreciate your response in the existing section of my talk page.Seahen 21:53, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of Mega Man weapons

Hi. I fixed the valid points you raised on the talkpage concerning the list. Hopefully we can agree on a support. I'm a little worried about the criteria however in the previous oppsiton that raised, but for the sake of a good list, I feel we should think of the spirit of the policy, not always the letter. -ZeroTalk 22:38, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Congratulations

Hi, Pagrashtak/archive3, Congratulations on Becoming a Sysop

Hey there. Congratulations, you've just been made a sysop! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except junk like "LALALALAL*&*@#@THIS_SUXX0RZ"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, ban anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on Votes for deletion (provided there's a consensus) for more than one week, protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.

Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun!

Congratualtions!! Jedi6-(need help?) 03:11, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

:) If you ever have any questions about what to do with your new sysop status, you can usually find me on #wikipedia-en-admins on freenode. Congrats! jacoplane 20:30, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks to everyone who commented at my RFA — I'll do my best. Pagrashtak 03:53, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
