Padosan (Hindi: पड़ोसन, Urdu: پڑوسن) is a 1968 Indian Hindi film. Directed by Jyoti Swaroop, and written by Rajendra Krishan. The music is by R.D. Burman. The movie is a lighthearted comedy and it stars Sunil Dutt as a simple person, and his neighbour (Padosan) Saira Banu. He falls for her and woos her with a little help from his friends ( Kishore Kumar, Mukri, Agha ). Mehmood as the South Indian musician and rival to Sunil Dutt is among the highlights of the film.
Kishore Kumar played role of 'Guru" to Sunil Dutt (Bhola) and taught him tricks to get his girl. After this movie Sunil Dutt started calling Kishore Kumar Guru by which name many of his fans remember great Kishore Kumar.
Reportedly the song Ek Chatur Naar (Duet by Kishore Kumar and Manna Day) was partly improvised by Kishore Kumar at the time of recording and Manna Day determined to show Kishore Kumar how he would sing the duet better; felt that Kishore though not classically trained , got the mood of the song much better and immortalized Ek Chatur naar.
