[edit] History and Background
The brand was created by Ernesto Padilla and is manufactured in the Dominican Republic. It was introduced into the U. S. market in 2003.[1]
[edit] Description
The wrapper that gives this cigar its name is a hybrid of Cuban-seed and Connecticut-seed tobaccos[2] grown in Ecuador.[1] The binder is Nicaraguan and the filler is a Dominican, Nicaraguan & Peruvian blend.[1] The cigars come celloed in a varnished box, 20 to the box.[1]
The band was designed by Ernesto Padilla. The ends and the top represent pen points and are a tribute to his father, Cuban ex-patriate, poet, writer and teacher Heberto Padilla.[3] The black and gold background distinguishes it from the band of the Padilla Maduro, which is blue and silver.
