Paddy Considine

Patrick "Paddy" Considine (born 5 September 1974) is an English actor best known for his work in such films as Dead Man's Shoes and A Room for Romeo Brass.

Considine was born in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire and grew up just outside Burton in Winshill. He attended Abbot Beyne School until 1990, and then took a Performing Arts course at Burton College, where he met the future actor and film director Shane Meadows. Amongst other things, they formed the band She Talks To Angels (inspired by a Black Crowes song of the same name), with Shane as vocalist and Paddy "Bam Bam" as drummer. Lead guitarist in She Talks To Angels was Nick Hemming, who was also a member of The Telescopes and now The Leisure Society.

Considine went on to get a first class degree in photography in Brighton.

Considine has also appeared in the British rock band Arctic Monkeys music video, "Leave Before The Lights Come On" (for which he wrote the story) as well as in the Coldplay video for "God Put A Smile On My Face" and Moloko's "Familiar Feeling".

After returning from uni old friend Shane Meadows cast Considine in his first role in a feature film as the disturbed character Morell in 'A Room for Romeo Brass' (1999). Despite the film's huge success at the Edinburgh film festival rumour has it that Paddy found himself at the local Job centre the Monday following its premiere. Paddy then worked on several short films with Meadows.

However Paddy's outstanding performance in 'A room for Romeo Brass' had not gone unnoticed and he soon found himself cast in Pawel Pawlikowski's 'The Last Resort' (2000) the following year. Playing the love struck misfit Alfie, for which he won the best actor award at the Thessaloniki film festival.

Further roles ensued and Paddy has since worked alongside actors such as Russell Crowe and Renée Zellweger and has gone on to gain nominations at numerous British film awards including one for his touching role as Johnny in Jim Sheridan's 'In America' (2003).

As-well as his lead roles Paddy has had a number of scene stealing support roles in films such as '24 Hour Party People' (2002), 'Born Romantic' (2000) and 'The Martins' (2001), working alongside the likes of Steve Coogan, Lee Evans, Jane Horrocks, Peter Kay and Cathy Burke, to name a few.

More recently Considine has been noticed for his performance as Richard the revengeful brother in the applauded film 'Dead Man's Shoes' (2004), which he co-wrote with Shane Meadows, and for his role as Phil the Born again Christian in Pawlikowski's 'My Summer of Love' (2004).

The future is bright for Considine following his first major Hollywood release in 'Cinderella Man' (2005) alongside Russell Crowe and Renée Zellweger and his role playing the killer of Rolling Stones founder Brian Jones in 'Stoned (film)' (2005).

Also in post-production is a Spanish thriller 'Backwoods' aka 'Bosque de sombras' with British actor Gary Oldman (Harry Potter, Hannibal, Leon, Fifth Element) and 'The Half Life of Timofey Berezin' a black comedy about the plutonium black market in Russia with Australian actress Radha Mitchell (Melinda & Melinda, Finding Neverland, Pitch Black) with Executive producers George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh. Both films are due for release in 2007. Paddy is currently about to feature in the cop-themed action comedy 'Hot Fuzz' from the makers of 'Shaun of the Dead', Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright, Nick Frost et al.

He Currently resides in Matlock, Derbyshire.
