Paddock Field

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paddock Field Halls of Residence is a part of the University of Brighton's campus in Falmer. It is one of two halls of residence at the Falmer site, the other being Great Wilkins.

The halls are split into self contained flats and houses containing single study en-suite bedrooms sharing a good-sized kitchen/ communal area. There is also a two bedroom flat on site available to mature students at a slightly higher rent. The majority of the 469 rooms available are contained in 8-person flats all on the same floor. Some of the rooms however are found in 6-person houses spread across multiple floors. The houses have the same size communal areas and cupboard and freezer space as the flats, despite a lower number of occupants.

A single room costs £85 per week, normally for a 39-week tenancy and the standard bedroom size is 11.8 square metres. The ensuite accomodation is in the form of a wet-room shower and all rooms have broadband internet access. Paddock Field is served by its own dedicated communal launderette.

The complex was is well looked after, with beautiful Sussex countryside surroundings and next to the Brighton Health and Racquet Club. It is about 4 miles from the Brighton seafront and has both bus and train connections. The bus no.25 leaves from the campus every 5-10 minutes during the day, and there is a student nightbus available from Brighton to Falmer in the night-time.

The day to day management of the flats is carried out by London and Quadrant Housing Association on behalf of the university.
