Paco Ignacio Taibo II

Paco Ignacio Taibo II (born 11 January 1949 in Gijón, Asturias), birth name Francisco Ignacio Taibo Mahojo, is a Spanish/Mexican writer, politician and academic. He has received the international Dashiell Hammett award for best detective story three times. He also won the Planeta / Joaquín Mortiz award in 1992.
His works include the series of a mexican detective called Héctor Belascoarán Shayne introduced for first time in the novel Días de combate after that he writes eight more novels with this character. Other of his novels: Muertos incómodos (The Restless Dead) (with Subcomandante Marcos), 'Con cuatro manos' (With Four Hands), 'Sombra de la sombra' (The Shadow of the Shadow), and 'Amorosos fantasmas'. Also, he authored Che Guevara's biography, 'Ernesto Guevara, también conocido como el Che' (Ernesto Guevara: Also Known as Che).
Paco Ignacio Taibo II organises the 'Semana Negra' (The Noir Week), a crime fiction festival held every year in Gijón, Spain.
