Pacific Research Institute
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Pacific Research Institute (PRI) is a free market think tank based in San Francisco, California.
Sir Antony Fisher, founder of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) in London, UK, teamed with San Francisco businessman James North to form the Pacific Institute for Public Policy in 1979, which would later come to be known as the Pacific Research Institute.
Sally Pipes, formerly of the Fraser Institute, became President of PRI in 1991.
Like the IEA, PRI's mandate is to spread the influence of leading free-market thinkers such as F.A. Hayek and Milton Friedman. To facilitate this, PRI's activities include publications, events, media commentary, legislative testimony, and community outreach.
PRI is a member organization of the Cooler Heads Coalition which asserts that the theory of global warming is a myth.
