Pacal I

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pacal I or Pakal I (? - March 9, 612) was an ajaw of the Maya city-state of Palenque. His dynastic position is not entirely certain[1], though he may have been the brother of Aj Ne' Ohl Mat. It seems that he never ascended to the high-kingship in his own right. He was the father of Lady Zac-Kuk, one of the rare queens regnant of Mayan history.

He should not be confused with his grandson Pacal II, better known as Pacal the Great.
