Don't go near the water. The Halliwell sisters face the truth about their mother's death years before when they revisit the long-closed summer camp and lake where she mysteriously drowned. Prue, Piper and Phoebe witness two more present-day violent drownings and meet Sam, a homeless man who they find out was once their mother's Whitelighter. To save the young campers who are returning to the newly opened camp, Prue must face her greatest fear and follow in her mother's fatal footsteps to destroy a watery demon. Meanwhile, Leo and Piper learn that they aren't the first Whitelighter and witch to fall in love.

  • Water Demon: Invisible in water and with no apparent weaknesses, the Water Demon is a powerful and mysterious creature of evil. Possessing great cunning and stealth, this demon kills by surprise, drowning it´s victims in it´s watery body. The Charmed Ones' mother, Patty Halliwell, tried to vanquish the water demon in 1978, but was killed while trying. To vanquish the water demon, electric currents must be used, to separate the particles that make up the demon.

  • This episode's title is a play on words for the movie Halloween H20: 20 Years Later.
  • Is one of only two times we see Patty use her power to freeze. The only other instance is in the series finale Forever Charmed.
  • First time we are introduced to Sam, and his backstory ties to the Charmed Ones.
  • This is the second time we see actress Emmalee Thompson portray young Prue, the first time being in the episode That '70s Episode. She will later play the role a third time in We All Scream for Ice Cream.
  • When Sam and Prue were on the dock and the Water Demon went inside of Sam, he had Prue flip the switch to turn the power cables on. Sam shouldn't have been electrocuted because he was holding onto the rubber handles, which are there so people don't get shocked.
  • In this episode, Piper gets held in Leo's arms in order for her to be orbed to the camp, which is against the rules according to what they say. However, in later episodes orbing others is a common practice.
  • Piper becomes dizzy after orbing with Leo, but this is not her first time orbing. In the episode Love Hurts when Piper has Leo's powers, she orbs them out of the attic. However we only see this in the episode Cat House.
  • When Sam sees Patty and calls out to her, Prue looks up to see no one. However, in the episode Sam I Am, Piper said that the last time they saw him he was riding into the afterlife with their mother. This is not actually an error, as although the girls could not see Patty they are aware of her being there.
  • While trying to distract the kids from going into the water, Phoebe suggests the kids play Heads Up Seven Up instead.
  • Prue says that she is destined to follow her mother's steps as she will die young; this actually happens in the season three episode All Hell Breaks Loose.
