[edit] Plot
Rachel's birthday is coming up, so Lorelai agrees to buy a present for Luke to give her. She also winds up buying clothes for Luke. When Rachel walks in and sees Lorelai dressing Luke, she is taken aback.
Rory continues to avoid Dean. She is also sad and moody and having trouble sleeping. When she goes to visit Lane and finds her working on a science project with Dean, she runs away, leading to an argument between her and Lane. At school, Max expresses concern for Rory, and lets slip the fact that he and Lorelai have been talking for several weeks and are planning to go on a date. Rory confronts Lorelai about her and Max, and they end up fighting. Rory tells Lorelai that she will meet her at home, but when Lorelai returns home Rory is nowhere to be found.
Instead of going home, Rory takes a cab to her grandparents' house. They let her spend the night, and Lorelai agrees to get her after school the next day. Lorelai is hysterical without Rory, and she goes into the market to yell at Dean, where she learns that Dean and Rory broke up because he told her that he loved her.
When Lorelai picks up Rory, they finally talk about Rory's breakup. Lorelai tells Rory that she hopes that someday Rory will be able to say "I love you" to a boyfriend. They head home, and Rory stops by Lane's house to patch things up with her. Things also progress between Lorelai and Max, with Lorelai finally telling people that she and Max are seeing each other again.

[edit] Inconsistencies
When Lorelai and Rory stop by Doose's Market on the way home, Rory asks if it is Wednesday. Lorelai says it isn't. However, when Lorelai picks Rory up from Emily and Richard's home the next day, she says that they will see them "tomorrow night," meaning Friday night. Therefore, it had to be Thursday when she said this, and it would have been Wednesday the day before, when Lorelai said it was not Wednesday.
