[edit] Gifted Programs
The Gil Hodges School houses two highly selective gifted programs for students throughout New York City. The first is the Center for the Intellectually Gifted, or CIG, a program that challenges students with work above the next grade's level. Students are taken from throughout the district, as there is one CIG program per district. There is a single CIG class for each grade level from kindergarten through fifth grade. The second, an honors or Eagle program, is for students that do quite well on tests and in school but not acceleratedly enough to qualify for the CIG program. Each year, some number of Eagle students are moved into CIG, and some average students are moved to the Eagle program, which is housed in many schools, city-wide.
[edit] Administration
The current principal is Frank A. Cimino, who has been with the school for many years. Starting in September of 2004, Ms. Annabelle Corales, former and tenured fourth grade teacher filled her footsteps, as a credentialed administrative assistant.
[edit] The Parents' Association
A particularly active PA, it is headed by three co-presidents, Carmela Aiese, Dennis Feinstein, and Glen Kirkland as of the 2005-2006 school year.
