[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello P. B. Mann, welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alphax τεχ 01:37, 29 September 2005 (UTC)

Hey there P.B... I saw your note on the new user log, and I just wanted to say that even as a high schooler, you can make important contributions. Obviously you can copyedit like you have been, and we appreciate the help, but there's something else you can do that I think Wikipedia needs a lot more of.

One of the problems a lot of Wikipedia articles have is readability. When an expert in something starts editing an article, the article gets a lot more comprehensive and accurate. Sometimes in the process, it also becomes incomprehensible for anyone who isn't an expert. We NEED people who don't know anything about a subject, because the purpose of Wikipedia is to be an information resource for non-experts. We need people to tell us when we're failing! So when you run across something that makes no sense to you at all, drop a note on the article's talk page. That way the other writers will know they have a problem, which is the first step toward fixing it.

Good luck and happy editing, Isomorphic 11:05, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Hehe... I can do that. :) --P. B. Mann 21:46, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] unblock request

[edit] Clearing an autoblock

Please note that we cannot unblock you at this time because you have not given us the information we need to look into your block. It is very likely that you are not personally blocked. If you are prevented from editing, it may be because you are autoblocked or blocked because of your IP address. Without further details there is nothing further we can do to review your block or lift it. If you are still autoblocked by the time you read this message, please follow these instructions:

  1. If you have a Wikipedia account, please ensure that you are logged in.
Your account name will be visible in the top right of this page if you are.
If it isn't, try bypassing your web browser's cache.
  2. Try to edit the Sandbox.
  3. Copy the {{unblock-auto|...}} code generated for you under the "Autoblocked?" section.
  4. Paste the code at the bottom of your user talk page and click save.

If you are not blocked from editing the sandbox then the autoblock on your IP address has already expired and you can resume editing.

[edit] unblock request information

Sorry... Here's the info you need.

Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing.
You were blocked by AudeVivere for the following reason (see our blocking policy): vandalism
Your IP address is 216.110.205.5.

All I'm wondering is if there is some way for this IP adress (which has been blocked in the past) to be blocked without affecting me. If there isn't, that's fine. I'll just wait until the block is lifted, I guess.

  • That address is no longer blocked, so you should be okay to edit again, with apologies for the inconvenience. As for your question, yes, there are ways to block the IP and not block you. In the heat of the moment, people don't use them (they're not selected by default), but user practice on this will eventually change. Happy editing! ЯEDVERS 16:28, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
